Ritualists abduct New born baby from sleeping mother in Ondo

Published

Less than two-week-old baby has been abducted by ritualists at Uro-Ajowa in the Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Thursday while the mother of the baby, Mrs Oluwaseun Olomodi, was still sleeping.

Two suspected ritualists reportedly sneaked into the room where the newborn baby and the mother were sleeping and took the baby away, for apparent money rituals.

The source said, “It happened around 1am on Thursday. The hoodlums gained entry into the house through the kitchen. After the hoodlums had abducted the baby, an elderly woman, who woke up at that time and attempted to rescue the baby, was cut with a machete by the hoodlums.

“The elderly woman’s scream woke up the neighbours and the victim’s mother, but the kidnappers had left.

Immediately, the community members started combing the bushes but their efforts have not yielded any fruit up until now. “

The Public Relations Officer for the Ondo State Police Command, Mr Femi Joseph, said the police had begun investigation into the matter.

Four tenants in court for allegedly exhuming landlord’s corpse, selling his property

A 16-year-old pupil, Kehinde Timilehin, who allegedly stabbed his schoolmate to death, has been remanded by an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, ordered that the accused be kept at the State Children Correctional Centre pending advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions.

Adegboye subsequently adjourned the case till January 18, 2019.

Timilehin, a pupil of Ado Grammar School, Ado-Ekiti, is standing trial for allegedly stabbing his schoolmate, Favour Matthew, in the chest on Thursday, December 6, 2018, after school hours.

Timilehin and Mathew were said to be testing the efficacy of a charm believed to prevent the penetration of weapons like cutlass and knife.

But the charm failed Mathew as the weapon with which Timilehin allegedly attacked him penetrated his body and he reportedly died at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the Ekiti State Criminal Investigation Department on the day of the incident.
