Nommo Award shortlists announced



The 2019 Nommo Awards for Speculative Fiction by Africans announce the shortlists for the Nommo Awards in all four categories – novel, novella, short story and comics/graphic novels. The shortlisted works are:

The roughly 170 members of the African Speculative Fiction Society (ASFS) nominated works for the Awards long list and short lists. They will now have a three-month period to read the works and vote for the winners of the Awards.

The short-listed works must be speculative fiction created by Africans and published in calendar year 2018. The winners of the Ilube Nommo Award and the Comic/Graphic Novel award receive UD$ 1000.00. The winners of the novella and short story awards receive US$ 500.00. The ASFS thanks its patron Tom Ilube, CBE for his generosity.

The ASFS was founded in 2015. The creation of the Nommo Awards was announced at the Ake Festival in Abeokuta in November 2016. The winners will be announced at the Ake Festival in Lagos Nigeria in November.

Halima Abubakar stuns in New Photos amidst Lesbianism rumours




Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar has shared stunning photos on social media, amidst rumours of her lesbianism lifestyle.

Ms. Abubakar, who has not voiced a word to debunk the claims has been parading her photos on Instagram and Twitter, paying no attention to the news.

Actress, Cossy Orjiakor called out Halima alleging that the Kogi born actress, told her that she is Genevieve  Nnaji’s lesbian partner.

Cossy, who is clearly Halima’s sworn enemy said she created the news of her sleeping with a dog, and made Nigerians believe that she actually slept with a dog.

“Nooo she fit. This girl is pure evil…she even tell em say Genevieve na her lesbian partner….na her boyfriend finish the small career with dog story na that journalist back in the days. Them do me shaa I left the industry for 7yrs cause I was heart broken. I don use super glue hold am now na fire to fire,” she wrote on Instagram.

She continued, “I was naive and believe in meeting a guy getting to know each other then start dating ….. ohhh back then I was in love with this movie producer that didn’t even notice I exist…. when all the big monies were dying for me I was loving love but snake girl didn’t know that about me and all hell broke loose……, she gave out a picture I took onset of itohan to her journalist boyfriend …..who’s wife was living in Dublin he was fucking her…. and her sugar sappy use to have office in ilupeju…. they destroyed me…., I was in limbo for 8good yrs …,,the stories then….. there goes that girl tht sleep with dog…. it was the mastermind of snake girl…. then the people that were supposed to save me then the director …. producer …,denied me … Nollywood moved to barn me based on a d false story started by snake girl… churches preached about it…. only Shan George accepted ever acting that movie and seeing that dog scene .

Leo DiCaprio & girlfriend, Camilla Morrone stroll amidst crowd at World Trade Center




Leo DiCaprio and his girlfriend, Camilla Morrone on Friday walked around the World Trade Center area in New York City.

Leo was partially covered in his standard hooded sweatshirt, as they stopped at a food truck for a while, eyeballing the eats, but ended up getting nothing.

They did hit up Starbucks and drank as they meandered in the area.

They went to the Oculus station at the World Trade Center, a famous shopping area and a central stop for trains that connected numerous cities and states.
