Kano Assembly confirms Yusuf Gawuna as Deputy Governor

Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna has been officially appointed the new Deputy Governor of Kano State, by the state’s House of Assembly.

On Tuesday, Salihu Tanko Yakassai, Special Assistant on Media to the Governor, confirmed it on his Twitter page, saying: “H.E the incoming Deputy Governor of Kano State Hon Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna has been screened by the Kano State House of Assembly which paves the way for his swearing in by H.E @GovUmarGanduje. Congratulations Hon Gawuna. May Allah be your guide amin.”

His appointment came after the resignation of Professor Hafiz Abubakar, the erstwhile Deputy Governor of the state, who resigned in August after defecting from the All progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Atiku 'committed to elimination fuel subsidy process'

 

Former Vice President, the presidential flag bearer of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar has mourned the late former President of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Dr. Dozie Ikedife.

“On behalf of my family, I mourn the loss of Dr Dozie Ikedife, a former President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo. He was a true patriot who worked for a united, democratic and fair Nigeria. May he rest in peace. –AA,” he said on Twitter.

Ikedife died earlier this week and was buried in his home town, at Nnewi, Anambra state.

Former Ohanaeze Ndigbo President, Dozie Ikedife dies at 88

Former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr. Dozie Ikedife is dead.

He died on Tuesday at 7pm, at the age of 88 in his Nnewi residence, according to his son.

He will be buried on Wednesday, Dec 12 at 5pm in his compound.”

The Imo State Governor, and Chairman Progressives Governors Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha said described Dr. Ikedife as a selfless leader who made sacrifices in the overall interest of Ndi-Igbo in particular and Nigeria as a nation.
