Adultery is the only grounds for Divorce, if you like argue with Jesus – Reno Omokri

Published

on

On Tuesday, Reno Omokri presented the reason for divorce on his daily Nugget, and he clearly stated that it is adultery. Subsequently, his followers started arguing about it, but he insisted that the Bible said ‘any man who divorces his wife except for adultery and marries another woman, commits adultery.’

He continue on Wednesday, saying that a celebrity called him and was not happy he said adultery is the only ground for divorce. Omokri emphasized that he stands by the words, despite that sometimes we all struggle with God’s word but we have to accept it.

He wrote:

“A celebrity called me yesterday and was not too happy I said adultery is the ONLY ground for divorce. I stand by those words. Sometimes, even me, I struggle with the Word of God. Yet, I still ACCEPT it, because God’s Word is superior to my opinion.

What I said yesterday is that the ONLY scriptural reason a believer has for divorcing a spouse is adultery. That has not changed since yesterday and won’t change tomorrow. If you like, I can define the meaning of the word ONLY for you. Would you like that?

Your argument is with Jesus, not with me. “But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, EXCEPT for the cause of fornication, causes her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced commits adultery.”-Mathew 5:32

Matthew 19:9 is even more unequivocal-“I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”

Nigeria’s economy slows in Q1 as oil sector shrinks

Published

on

Growth in Nigeria’s fragile economy slowed to 2.01% in the first quarter as the country’s dominant oil sector shrank, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Monday.

The annual pace dropped from the previous quarter’s 2.38%, when activity was likely to have been boosted by state spending in the run-up to February and March elections in which President Muhammadu Buhari won a second term.

Nigeria’s central bank has forecast growth of 3% for 2019.

The largely crude-dependent economy emerged from recession in 2017 and has been recovering in great part due to higher oil prices.

In the first quarter the non-oil sector grew 2.47% while the oil sector shrank 2.40%, according to the statistics office. Crude production rose slightly to 1.96 million barrels per day from 1.91 million in the previous quarter.

Growth in the first quarter of 2018 was 1.89%.

Cleaners find bodies of twin babies in Kenya River

Published

Kenya’s authorities say the bodies of two babies, thought to be twins, have been found during a clean-up of a river in the capital, Nairobi.

This is the eighth such discovery in recent months.

Officials believe the bodies are being dumped in the city’s rivers as a result of abortions, which are illegal in most cases in Kenya.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has called for an investigation into what he called a “worrying trend”.

Several workers were cleaning up the badly polluted Nairobi River that flows through Korogocho, one of the city’s biggest slums, when they made the grim discovery.

They found the babies’ bodies in a plastic bag. One was still breathing but could not be saved.

The babies were buried near where they were discovered after the police said the parents could not be identified, governor’s spokesperson Elkana Jacob told the BBC’s Focus on Africa programme.

Governor Sonko believes that hospitals and clinics are dumping the bodies after performing abortions.

He has given his officials a week to investigate the issue.

As well as eight babies, four dead adults have also been found during the exercise to clean up the city’s rivers.
