Billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola has mourned the passing of his close friend, Engr Joseph Makoju, the former MD of Dangote Cement Plc.

He said Makoju was a Pillar in the Nigerian Electricity sector.

"It was with great shock and sadness that I heard of the passing of a dear friend and key member of Geregu Power Board of Directors Eng Joseph Makoju.

I am particularly pained as he most recently attended my Mums 90th birthday celebration and our Geregu Power PLC board meeting last week Wednesday as a director. He was a Pillar in the Nigerian Electricity sector.

He built several Power plants in Nigeria including the building and Commissioning of Geregu 1 and 2. He was former MD of Larfrge, former MD of Dangote Cement PLC and former Chief of Staff to Alhaji Aliko Dangote.

He was a perfect gentleman and the best in his trade. I will miss his invaluable counsel and kind heart. We have lost a gem. May his soul and the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God Rest In Peace. Amen," he wrote.
