Authorities in Texas say a dispute between neighbors over a parking space resulted in one of the men fatally shooting the other on Tuesday evening.
The violent incident took place at around 5.30pm in the 6700 block of Highwind Bend Lane in Katy in Harris County.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a shooting and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen and having CPR performed on him at the scene.
The victim was then rushed to Cypress Fairbanks Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Capt. Mike Koteras, from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, told KTRK that it has been determined that the two neighbors lived across the street from one another and got into a argument over a parking spot along a narrow residential street.
The suspected gunman was detained after the shooting, but not arrested, and was said to be cooperating with the investigation. His name has not been made public.
So far, no charges have been filed against him in connection to his neighbor’s slaying.
The local medical examiner’s office is scheduled to perform an autopsy on the victim later in the day on Wednesday.
