Lagos House of Assembly member, Desmond Elliot had shocked social media users with his comment at Lagos Assembly.

The Nollywood filmmaker to other lawmakers in the state that social media has negative impact.

In the video already making rounds on Twitter, Mr. Elliot begged his fellow entertainment celebrities and social media influencers to stop spreading hate.

He said: Mr. Speaker, we need to address certain things, the Nigerian youth, social media, social Influencers, all of these are making the narratives that we are seeing today, unless we are not telling ourselves the truth.

Social media, yes, good, good, has its negative impact. Let me first thank you for condemning the killing in Lekki, I want through the comments and I cannot believe it. The abuses, insults from children. Is this Nigeria? Children cursing, people having the effrontery to enter the Oba's palace and take his staff of office, culture is gone.

Mr. Speaker in the next 5 years there will be no Nigeria. Lets start now, the youths are not only those protesting, those looting are youths as well. Mr. Speaker, pregnant women went into malls, pick things and walk away, when can we change this narrative?

I put it all celebrities out there, motivational speakers, this is the only country we have, the wealthy will go, when anything happens, what is our common saying, ‘we die here'.

Please celebrities, please social media influencers, stop the hatredalready.”
